Blaendare Road

‘OO’ – BARNHILL MRC

Blaendare Road is a small terminus high above Pontypool set in the 1950s – 60s. The branch was built in order to tap the high-quality limestone and dolomite outcrops from Cwnniscoy quarry. Blaendare Road enjoys a frequent passenger services to Pontypool Road, Ebbw Vale and Blaenavon via its triangular junction with the Vale of Neath line at Cwm Glyn. Goods services are provided in the goods yard with additional traffic from a local seed and feed merchant and a coal merchants yard.

The track is Peco code 100 and points operated by Seep point motors. The track is ballasted with

Woodland Scenics medium ballast. All the buildings are kits or modified kits. Rolling stock is mainly RTR with a few kit built locos and wagons. Uncoupling ramps are a mixture of Seep and homemade.
