Parkend-ish ‘N’

FOREST of DEAN MRC

Parkend-ish was built by Forest of Dean club member Brian Ball in his study/office. He designed it as a tribute to the Forest Railways with Parkend at its heart, and although he made some changes to the layout of the station, those who know the area will recognise his version of Parkend. He later extended the line to the mythical terminus of Whiteford on the Wye, along a shelf. This section on its own shows how little space is necessary to construct a convincing terminal station in N gauge. Sadly, Brian died in late 2016 and the Forest of Dean MRC purchased the layout with the intention of exhibiting it in his memory. We have made a number of changes to the configuration of the layout to make it more suitable for exhibiting including placing the controls to the rear and developing the scenery.

The layout is DCC operated and is set in a fairly loose time frame from late 1940s to late 1950s. If you have any questions about the layout, or the club, please ask any of our operating team.
