Elmore - EM gauge
Elmore is a terminus station based south of Gloucester, originally a short branchline off the GWR golden valley line, it has later been extended to feed the outer industrial area of south Gloucestershire. This extension made Elmore into a turn back station, as such, it sees a wide variety of different trains which run around here ready to go down the branch or return to the mainline.
Elmore station itself comprises of 2 platforms, a bay which is used for autotrains on the branch and a main platform for all other traffic. Elmore boasts an active goods yard with a full range of facilities including cattle dock, goods shed and coal merchant. An engine shed is the home for the resident engine whose role it is to shunt the yard, take mixed goods trains down the branchline and provide banking assistance to trains climbing the 1:50 incline out of Elmore.
The layout is operated fully by DCC, with servos operating both points and signals, and all controlled from JMRI.
