GORSTY KNOLL & CLEMENTS END
N gauge
Gorsty Knoll is a rebuild of an N Gauge beginners’ layout and is designed to show what can be done with products that are available, to produce a simple but interesting layout, which is within the abilities of a teenager, or parent and child to build.
The layout has been shown at several exhibitions and open days and won praise for the concept.
The team behind the refurbishment saw that there was a mirror image layout also at the club house, so set about refurbishing this.
Now they decided to link the two layouts together, the shorter version via a short scenic link, the longer version using a viaduct based on the one that used to be at Lydbrook. This is the shorter ten-foot version.
While not strictly prototypical, the overall layout is fun to operate and the junior modellers enjoy it and there is plenty to see beyond the railway fence.
The names are taken from two locations a couple of miles apart near Coleford in the Forest of Dean.
