NORTH OF ENGLAND LINE 2
Following on from the highly successful North of England Line - Scarworth Junction, this layout uses the same fiddle yard and lighting rig as the original, but with a completely new set of scenic boards bringing the layout into the late 1970s - 1980s timeline, and a move to the north east on the pre-electrified east coast mainline.
Viewers will be able to recognise prototypical diesel trains from the period as well as the odd steam special, passing through Scarlington's impressive station and fading industrial landscape, featuring mainly scratch built or heavily kit-bashed structures including the station buildings, hotels, cinema, river bridges, ornamental arches, depot and sub-station, former industrial works, operational cliff lift, and shops including long gone favourites Woolworths, British Home Stores and Chelsea Girl.
The layout can operate in daytime and night time (lit) mode and is brought to life with hundreds of figures and road vehicles enhancing the busy urban, autumnal scene. Sharp eyed viewers may also be able to spot vehicles from well known television programmes including Minder, Butterflies and Life on Mars to name a few.
There are five operational tracks, up and down mainlines, local branch lines, freight lines and the industrial works line, keeping the four operators fully occupied, but happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the layout and its construction.
